The Last Thought Blot

It’s that time of year where the books close, the binders start to empty, and the last of your pencils are used to their ends. As a senior, this end is not just of school, but of my whole high school career. This blog has mapped out my last year.

In terms of this blog, I gradually learned the ropes and mechanics to this website. My biggest triumph was finding the “feature image” button. Besides the actual website, this blog has helped me find my voice in a casual yet succinct style. This style allowed me to express my thoughts and opinions, almost a stream line of ideas, into one place. One post that helped me was my one about the college process. Through a time I just needed to vent, I was able to using this forum.

Certain posts were on the more educational side, of course. Out of all the English class related posts, one of my favorites would have to be when I dissected the Party’s slogan from 1984 by George Orwell. I had fun breaking down each section of the saying in order to extract more specific meanings. I learned that I love to inspect diction and each word’s importance.

Throughout the year, I was also able to marry certain parts of my life outside of the classroom with pieces from inside the classroom. We watched Bandersnatch from the show Black Mirror. This sparked me to watch the whole series, something I immensely enjoyed and continue to wait for new episodes. I was able to take one episode from Black Mirror and 1984 and connect them in one post. The ability to connect across texts is a valuable skill that I will be able to use in college and beyond.

The rest of my writing will take place in college, where I will be submitting lab report upon lab report, and essay upon essay. Sadly, they will differ immensely from the casual style I developed through this blog.

I will never forget the wackiness that is Modernism, from the male gaze to the violence. Who knows, maybe I’ll take another Modern Fiction class in college. But for now, this blog has come to end. Time to put the cap on this ink pen.
